trekking and hiking the douro
Hiking the Douro River is a breathtaking experience, including terraced vineyard landscapes, trails and historical villages. One of the most beautiful trails is the São Cristóvão from Provesende to Pinhão.

The route connects two picturesque villages in the Douro Wine Region. The walk starts in Provesende, a historic village with cobbled streets, and descends gently along rural paths between olive trees, almond trees and well-kept vineyards until it reaches the village of São Cristóvão do Douro. It’s a short route but full of charm, ideal for those who want to get to know the Douro on foot and at their own pace

The distance is over 5 kms / 3 miles, and generally takes about 2 hours mostly downhill.
